How do use-by labels work?
Every product in the module carries its shelf life once opened or prepared: béchamel D+3, pastry cream D+1, deli ham D+3. The use-by date is figured from today, nothing to count. The FDA Food Code caps ready-to-eat TCS food at 7 days at 41 °F; your products can be set shorter.
- Open Use-by labels, tap a product in the list or type its name in Search a product; set the number of labels with − and + on the line.
- Add the next products: the batch shows in the panel, each with its use-by date.
- Tap your first name under Who, pick the Printer if you have several, then Print 3 labels, or Record without printing (3) if you write the date with a marker.
The label shows the product name, “Opened on” or “Prepared on” with date, time and first name, and Use by with the deadline. Each batch is written to the register with the use-by date, “D+3” and the number of labels, open from History or Inspection mode, and goes out with Export PDF. Mistake? Cancel within 20 seconds, or later from History with a reason: the line stays, struck through.
