How do I add a thermometer and set how often it is checked and its tolerance?

Thermometers are set up in Settings › Modules › Calibration (by the manager, or on a tablet where the manager has opened settings).

  1. Tap "Add a thermometer" and give it a "Thermometer name": "core probe #1", "receiving infrared", "oven thermometer".
  2. Under "Check", pick the rhythm: "every 7 d", "every 15 d", "every 30 d" (the default) or "every 90 d".
  3. Under "Tolerance", pick the accepted gap between the reading and the reference: ± 1 °F, ± 2 °F (the default, in line with the FDA Food Code, which asks for thermometers accurate to ± 2 °F) or ± 4 °F.
  4. Tap "Save".

To rename a thermometer or change its rhythm, tap "Edit" on its line. A replaced or lost thermometer is removed with "Delete": it leaves the list and the tasks, but its past checks stay in the log. Each check keeps the tolerance and frequency that were in force that day.

Tip: the core probe that gets used twenty times a day deserves "every 7 d"; the receiving infrared, which only gives a rough idea, can stay at "every 90 d". Each thermometer has its own rhythm.
